PU Foam Scrap Grades: AA / A / B
Graded PU foam scrap is recycled polyurethane foam sorted by skin content, density, color, and source. It is the input material for rebonded PU foam, which is made with recycled PU foam and is 100% recyclable. For rebond production, buyers match the grade to their target foam: skin content, density and color of the scrap are the three things to confirm before ordering.
The common purchase grades are AA, A, and B. Grade AA is around 5% skin or 0-skin with density 20-30kg/m3. Grade A is available in 5% skin and 15% skin versions. Grade B is around 15% skin. Colors are black, white, or mixed. Other available scrap types include memory visco scrap, shredded foam, PU binder, 10mm thick foam carpet underlay, filter foam scrap, Dali skin foam, Hi-Poly shoe foam scrap (50-60 density), crushed fabric bra foam scrap, and old used foam. Final rebonded foam can be produced from 50kg/m3 to 300kg/m3 and used for replacement of virgin foam, furniture padding, farming mattress, domestic mattress, and modular autoparts. Shape cutting is supported.

Grade AA
Grade AA is the top grade in this scrap range. It is supplied as around 5% skin or 0-skin versions, with density 20-30kg/m3. The 0-skin version is for buyers who need the cleanest input and the least skin contamination. The around 5% skin version keeps a small skin fraction while maintaining a high grade. It is the highest grade and commands a higher price. Use Grade AA when the rebond target requires low skin, stable density, and cleaner color control. It is a scrap grade defined by skin content and density.
Grade A
Grade A is available in 5% skin and 15% skin versions. The 5% skin version sits close to Grade AA in skin content and is suitable when a cleaner mix is needed but the exact AA specification is not required. The 15% skin version accepts more skin material and can be used where the final rebonded foam allows more variation. Grade A is a practical middle option for furniture padding, mattress, and general rebond production.
Grade B
Grade B is around 15% skin. It is an economical choice for cost-sensitive rebond production, carpet underlay, and other applications where a higher skin fraction is acceptable. Grade B is recycled PU foam with a higher skin fraction. Buyers should match Grade B to the target density, color, and end use rather than assuming it will behave like AA or A.
Colors & special types
Colors are black, white, and mixed. Black scrap suits dark rebonded foam and applications where color matching is not critical. White scrap is used when a lighter foam color is needed. Mixed color is a general-purpose option for rebonded foam where final color is not specified.
Special and lower-cost types:
- Memory visco scrap: memory foam scrap for buyers producing visco or memory-type rebonded foam.
- Shredded foam: foam already reduced in size, which can simplify handling before mixing.
- PU binder: binder for bonding foam scrap into rebonded blocks.
- 10mm thick foam carpet underlay: rebonded foam sheets for carpet underlay.
- Filter foam scrap: a lower-cost scrap type for rebond where the buyer accepts the grade’s condition.
- Dali skin foam: skin foam scrap for cost-sensitive rebond and filling applications.
- Hi-Poly shoe foam scrap (50-60 density): higher-density shoe foam scrap for buyers who need that density range.
- Crushed fabric bra foam scrap: a cheap scrap type for cost-controlled rebond or filling where fabric content is acceptable.
- Old used foam: used foam scrap for economical rebond production where the buyer accepts the condition.
Packaging & shipment
PU foam scrap is packed in bales of 200-300kg. A 40ft container loads 18000-22000kg. One 40HQ loads 20-22 tons of AA-grade compression bales. Ports are Shenzhen or Guangzhou, China. Supply ability is 5000 Ton/Tons per Month. Bale weight, compression, and loading depend on grade and final packing.
How to choose
Start with the target rebonded foam density: 50kg/m3 to 300kg/m3. Start from the grade definitions above and confirm skin content, density and color for your use — if you are unsure, tell us your target product and we will suggest a grade. If the final product can accept more skin and color variation, Grade A 15% skin or Grade B around 15% skin can reduce input cost. For white foam, specify white scrap; for dark foam, black or mixed can work. For memory-type foam, ask for memory visco scrap. For shoe foam in the 50-60 density range, ask for Hi-Poly shoe foam scrap. For carpet underlay, 10mm thick foam carpet underlay is available. For bonding, PU binder is available. Confirm bale size, container loading, and current grade availability before booking. Main markets are Mid East, South America, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Domestic Market.
Buyer questions
What is the difference between Grade AA, Grade A, and Grade B?
Grade AA is around 5% skin or 0-skin, density 20-30kg/m3. Grade A is available in 5% skin and 15% skin versions. Grade B is around 15% skin. AA has the lowest skin content in this range; B has the highest skin content and is the economical choice.
Which grade should I choose for rebonded PU foam?
It depends on target density, color, and skin tolerance. For low skin and cleaner consistency, start with AA or A 5% skin. For cost-sensitive production that accepts more skin, consider A 15% skin or B around 15% skin. Final rebonded foam can be 50-300kg/m3.
